ABOUT THE POSITION
The Worship Pastor is under the direction of the Senior Pastor to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Worship Ministry. Potential candidates must be in agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message, and versed in a blended style of worship that includes directing a choir and leading a praise team with a desire to build out a music program across all ages. Candidate should be able to develop and supervise a comprehensive music program, and lead worship services. These duties include the direct supervision of any volunteers in this ministry.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • In coordination with the Senior Pastor, plan and lead weekly God-honoring worship experiences.
  • Form a system to develop and mobilize members to use their talents within the worship ministry.
  • Provide pastoral leadership (encourage, pray for, etc.) to musicians & worship volunteers.
  • Plan and coordinate weekly Choir and Praise Team rehearsals, including proper management of Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, and Multitracks.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, and coordinate worship service planning with the pastor.
  • Plan, maintain and give leadership to the annual worship ministry budget.
  • Provide weekly oversight for any worship ministry-related payroll.
  • Lead congregational worship (ability to use keyboard or guitar for self-accompaniment is required).
  • Effectively communicate with, and work alongside, the Administrative Assistant.
  • Weekly communication of media needs to, and work alongside of the Technical Director.
  • Consistently assess and maintain musical equipment.
  • As needed, organize meetings and events among musicians for development/fellowship.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to meet with church members as needed.
  • Design worship services including coordination of music, biblical readings, communion, and responses for the worship service and align with the sermon series.
  • Provide guidance to Choir and Praise Team members, musicians, and singers, both musically and spiritually to promote growth in their spiritual gifts, their relationships with those they serve, and their relationship with Christ.
  • Be a team player, willing to work with other staff, volunteers and congregation in a positive and encouraging manner, keeping unity with the pastoral staff and congregation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a focus on Worship Music or other related area from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in successful worship leadership/choral leadership roles, including the experience of providing primary leadership over the worship and music ministry.

Self-Development - Prioritizes and accomplishes self-development goals. Teachable spirit with a desire to learn and grow. The gap between the current job description and the employee’s current abilities is appropriate and allows for future growth.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A personal sense of calling from God to vocational Christian ministry in general and to this area of ministry.
  • A mature Christian who demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit, is growing in their faith, and is committed to spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer.
  • Proven ability to identify, train, lead, and care for leaders & volunteers.
  • Proven ability to read, write and perform music on charts.
  • A basic working knowledge of sound & lighting systems is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate, cooperate and function well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Cross-cultural experience and/or bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Pastor.
